July 31:  Summer Camp

Summer Camp August 2007

Summer will soon be here. The sunny days and warm weather there is no better way for a student to spend them than at the

Toronto French Montessori School Summer Camp.

TFMS is now working the activities for the camp curriculum – activities that will be engaging and fun for all of our campers. Our Summer Camp curriculum is also designed to motivate the children - physically, mentally and academically. They will work on activities involving Math, French and English. Other activities will include art projects, games, drama, scientific experiments, field trips, music, computers, and outdoor water play. In addition, new campers will be introduced to the Montessori materials. All of the activities will be supervised by qualified specialists, instructors and counselors. First day of Camp is Tuesday, July 31st.

August 23:  Reminder: Last day of Summer Camp

August 30:  TFMS Welcome BBQ

At the end of the summer, as has been the tradition in the past few years, we will have a school social dinner the week before school begins.  Book your calendars for the August BBQ.  This is a great way to re-acquaint one another with the school, the teachers, the parents and the students in a fun, social atmosphere.  The event will be from 5pm until 7pm and tickets are less expensive if they are bought in June.  The price per ticket includes a hamburger and a drink and an interactive  presentation from a surprise entertainer.  Tickets can be bought for $8/adult and $5/child up to and including the end of year concert day of Thursday, June 14th.  In August, tickets can be bought at the door, but they will be $15/adult and $10/child.  So it pays to buy your tickets now!!

The production company will bring with it an ensemble of costumes and colourful sets; as well as a superior sound system and lighting. Also, they will be performing songs written by Jim LaMarche, Robert McCarrol, John O’Leary, Tim Masterson and Jody Terio.

Undoubtedly, this particular rendition of the popular children’s tale will not only be entertaining for the students, but parents will surely take pleasure in its humour and attractive visuals too. Thus, we would like to invite all of the parents to come and join us in the afternoon of the 2nd. Morning students should arrive at 2:00 pm.

There is a $ 5 fee for each student and $ 5 fee for every adult. Those students who choose not to participate can continue their work in class.

October 25, 2004: HALLOWEEN DRESS-UP DAY

Once again, one of our students’ favourite events is upon us: it is the time for Halloween. Therefore, the students are welcomed to dress-up in their favourite costumes for this Friday October 29, 2004. However, there will be a few restrictions as to what the students are allowed to wear.

Costumes such as animal characters, superheroes, angels and princesses are allowed. What are not allowed are scary costumes depicting witches, vampires, ghosts and draculas. Unfortunately, these scary costumes have been known to cause problems in the past. Some of our students may not be accustomed to seeing scary characters running amok. Thus, in order to prevent any incidents, I won’t allow any scary costumes.

I also discourage costumes that require high maintenance; that is, those costumes that need to be fastened and refastened constantly, or those that have loose bits hanging out. Please have in mind that the students will be active throughout the day. I advise that the costumes be removable for washroom breaks. Perhaps, it might be better for the students to bring their uniforms so that they may change into them.

In addition, please let me know whether you will be contributing to the snacks for the day. Chocolates, candies and other sweets are not permissible.

I thank you for your cooperation in this matter and look forward to a successful Halloween dress-up day.

  • a tractor-pulled wagon ride

  • visiting with the Farm animals

Be advised that children under 3 years of age must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. If you think that your child won't be able to join us, please make arrangements for that day since all the teachers will be participating in the field trip.

This trip looks very promising; we look forward to visiting with the farm animals and learning about apple trees. Let’s hope for good weather.

Remember that children under 3 years of age must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. If you think that your child won’t be able to join us, please make arrangements for that morning since all the teachers will be participating in the field trip.
